Role Overview: As a Survey Operative, you will play a vital role in collecting condition data and conducting asset inventories for both local and national authorities across highways in the UK.
The main duties of the role are day-to-day testing and surveying operations on highways across the UK. This role will involve route planning once maps in the Survey packs are received which highlight specific roads to survey, it will be your task to collect the data in a safe manner ensuring good coverage for each survey pack. The role will require basic geographical knowledge, computer skills, good organisation and an ability to learn new skills quickly.
Working away from home on a regular basis will be an integral part of the position. Starting salary depends on the experience detailed below that the candidate holds, Night-time allowance, overtime and working away from home expenses also paid.
Key Skills:
Technical Proficiency:
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot survey equipment.
- Good skills in Excel and Word.
Data Management:
- Strong attention to detail for quality control and ensuring data consistency.
Problem-Solving & Adaptability:
- Ability to carry out minor repairs and resolve issues in the field independently.
Project & Workflow Management:
- Efficient in managing projects, including setup, verification and completion (importing files, data dispatch, and project closure).
- Ability to follow detailed instructions for navigation.
Communication & Reporting:
- Strong communication skills for daily reports and weekly documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and share insights or issues effectively.
Fieldwork & Remote Operations:
- Comfortable working in the field with minimal supervision, managing self-discipline and adhering to schedules.
Ability to work away from home frequently and manage responsibilities independently.
